I loved the message behind Sunny’s story. It’s such a gentle way to help children understand that it’s okay to feel scared, tired, or unsure sometimes. My favorite part is the idea that you can rest and try again tomorrow. It’s a message kids really need to hear.
What stood out to me was how naturally the story talks about feelings without making the lesson feel heavy. Sunny doesn’t have everything figured out, and that makes his journey feel relatable. I can easily see this becoming a favorite read-aloud for children.
Brave Like Sunny is one of those stories that leaves you feeling a little lighter after reading it. I especially loved Sunny, Lambie, and his friends. The message about finding courage in small moments is simple enough for children to understand but meaningful enough for adults to appreciate too.
I really appreciated that the story doesn’t suggest children have to be fearless to be brave. It gives them another way to think about courage, especially when life feels difficult or confusing. I think this would be a wonderful book to read together and then talk about afterward.
